Apple Pie
Ingredients
Pie Crust Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/4 cup water
Filling Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled cooking apples
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter
Topping Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Make pie crust per recipe. Parbake. Cool.
- Toss apples in sugar and cinnamon. Place in crust.
- Prepare topping by cutting butter into remaining topping ingredients. Place over apples.
- Cover edge of pie with foil. Bake at 400 for 30 minutes. Remove foil; bake for 30 more minutes, or until topping is golden.

This recipe combine a crust recipe from Smitten Kitchen, a filling recipe from my grandma, and the topping from an apple crisp recipe from my mom.

The original amount of topping was slightly too much last time I made this (although I did not the date), so I reduced it from 3/4 cup of each dry ingredient to 1/2 cup (i.e., resulting in 2/3 of the original recipe). I did not alter the amount of baking powder or baking soda, which should be fine, right?
